SAFE ROUTES

All types of road users should have safe routes through Mission Bay

Pedestrians need basic upgrades to walk safely in the neighborhood.

In some areas of Mission Bay the sidewalks are in disarray - sometimes as a result of tree growth, and sometimes as a result of other factors, such as the impacts of construction within Mission Bay.

More details coming soon!

People in cars need routes to navigate safely through Mission Bay.

We have several roads that are flat, wide - with multiple lanes of traffic in each direction - and with multi-block spans of roadway between stop signs or traffic lights.  These road designs do not encourage calm, safe driving.

Mission Bay does not have a safe route network for people on bikes.

We need to implement the Biking and Rolling plan in Mission Bay, creating a network of protected bike lanes to allow people to move through the neighborhood safely on a bike.

On February 27th, 2026, a child was killed
while crossing the street with her mother.

Until we make both 4th Street and Channel Street safer for all, we are all at risk of experiencing another heart-stopping tragedy here.  Join us in calling on our City leaders to take simple action to prevent more death.
